I have so many feelings about this book. This is one of the books that captured my attention from the first page. Not Even Bones by Rebecca Schaeffer is YA paranormal fantasy. It is the first book in the Market of Monsters series. It is different than any other paranormal fantasy I’ve ever read. Not Even Bones tells the story of Nita, who dissects supernatural beings and their body parts are then sold on the internet by her mother. Nita has always been able to keep herself detached from it all. She doesn’t bother to think about her morality in all of this until her mother brings her a live specimen. That’s a line she isn’t willing to cross. The one time she adheres to her morals sets a series of unfortunate events in motion that will have Nita questioning whether she’s as monstrous as the bodies she dissects on her table.

Some of my favorite posts to read on the book blogosphere and watch on BookTube are TBRs. I always get really good recommendations from them. Without further ado, my September TBR.
Not Even Bones by Rebecca Schaeffer
Dexter meets This Savage Song in this dark fantasy about a girl who sells magical body parts on the black market — until she’s betrayed.
Nita doesn’t murder supernatural beings and sell their body parts on the internet—her mother does that. Nita just dissects the bodies after they’ve been “acquired.” But when her mom brings home a live specimen, Nita decides she wants out — dissecting living people is a step too far.
But when she tries to save her mother’s victim, she ends up sold on the black market in his place — because Nita herself is a supernatural being. Now Nita is on the other side of the bars, and there is no line she won’t cross to escape and make sure no one can ever capture her again.
Nita did a good deed, and it cost her everything. Now she’s going to do a lot of bad deeds to get it all back.
I’ve actually already finished this book and I have a lot of feelings, haha. Be on the lookout for the review soon!
P.S. I am going to the book signing for Only Ashes Remain on September 12, 2019, I am so excited!

One of my favorite paranormal creatures in fiction is vampires. As a teenager, I consumed any and all books that had vampires in it. It was always so interesting to me how varied the mythology for vampires could be depending on the author. While many of the well-known features were the same across many authors, it was always a treat to see how the author would make their vampires different from the rest. If there was a YA book about vampires, chances are I read it. I was totally obsessed, haha. I hadn’t really read anything with vampires in years. I think after the Twilight craze, my interest in vampires waned a bit. But lately I’ve been reading a lot of paranormal romance.

I picked up The Vampire’s Mail Order Bride by Kristin Painter on Amazon via BookBub (more on this amazing website at a later time). Mix a heap of Halloweentown with a dash of The Sopranos and you get this book. Truth be told, this wouldn’t be a book I would normally pick up, let alone read. But after reading the first few pages I was hooked. This book has a bit of everything: meddling grandmas, false identities, murder, intrigue and of course romance.

I am so excited to officially start my blog. I love books and I’m ecstatic to be reading on a more consistent basis. I’ve toyed with the idea of having a book blog for years but never thought I had the time or that it would be any good. But I’ve decided why not, I have nothing to lose. I’ve been an avid reader my whole life. I used to read a lot more when I was younger, but over the years it has waned a bit. Recently I have gotten back to reading more. There are so many books, so little time haha. I read a bit of everything but mostly like romance, contemporary fiction, mysteries, thrillers, crime fiction and young adult, to name a few.
I am 28 year old WOC living in New York City. I am a full time civil engineer. My day job can be very stressful and reading has always been a great stress reliever and source of peace for me. I hope people can come to this blog and join me in my love of books.
